How does Project Zarape work?
Project Zarape requires a locally-installed co-processor to function. This small app is what makes the actual changes to the documents. This keeps your files private and keeps our costs manageable!
To install the Project Zarape co-processor on Windows:
- First, sign in to the web interface.
- Click the download for Windows. Your browser may warn you that this is an unverified file. Press continue to allow it to download.
- Find the .exe file in your download folder. While you can run the processor from any folder, we recommend you copy it to somewhere accessible!
- Double-click the file to launch Project Zarape. You may get a window warning you that this is an “unverified” program. Click “more info” and then “run.” A new browser window should open. If not, navigate to tool.project-zarape.com
- The web viewer should report the co-processor as running. You can also check the system tray for the PZ icon to verify that it is operating.
To Disable Project Zarape on Windows:
- Access your hidden icons in the bottom right of your taskbar
- Right click on the Project Zarape icon
- Select “Quit” to disable the program
Currently, Project Zarape does not work seamlessly on MacOS. We’ve built the app and tested it, but in its current form Project Zarape does not install or run without some computer wizardry from you, the end user. To solve this, we would like to get the application “signed” (verified) by Apple; however, Apple requires us to spend money to do this. If you are interested in seeing a working MacOS version of PZ, please support us!
We currently do not have any plans for a Linux version of Project Zarape unless significant demand for a penguin-friendly version is demonstrated.
